A rare opportunity to create a community hall in Marylebone, designed to serve local people with a programme shaped around their needs.

Marylebone Hall

Marylebone Hall

What’s going on?

Westminster Council has issued a call for Expressions of Interest for the community space originally designated for the Marylebone Farmer’s Market, located at the corner of Aybrook Street and Cramer Street, opposite St Vincent’s RC Primary School. The Marylebone Association is preparing a bid to secure the space for the benefit of the local community. If our bid is successful, a new Community Interest Company will be formed to run the Marylebone Hall.

A unique 320 square metre space offering possibilities unlike any other community venue in Marylebone—complementing existing spaces while providing the benefits of commercial facilities at an accessible cost.

Vision:
A space for everyone

An inclusive community space to promote educational, recreational and social activities, for all the residents of Marylebone.

1. An inclusive space for all Marylebone community groups.

2. A multi-purpose, flexible space:

3. Balancing regular community use with financial sustainability goals.

Our vision is to ensure the hall is used to full capacity by providing a programme that meets the needs of local people, at low or no cost to them.

A programme of events:

  • Social and well-being

  • Cultural events

  • Use for businesses

  • Meeting space

  • Families and young people

  • Time allocated to schools

How will it be run?

The hall will not be directly managed by the Marylebone Association. Instead:

  • A new Community Interest Company (CIC) will be established to oversee its operations.

  • A Board of Trustees will be formed to provide strategic guidance and governance.

  • A hybrid management model is planned, combining professional staff to run the space and curate events with support from community volunteers.

Sustainable Funding Model

The hall will be supported through four key income streams:

  1. Commercial hire rates

  2. At-cost community use

  3. Free access for select activities and groups

  4. Fundraising initiatives and donations
